Places to stay during Oktoberfest??
Does anyone have any recommendations for places to stay during
Oktoberfest this coming year? Hostels? Camp Grounds? Motels? Any
suggestions would be great. Thanks!

The Munich-Thalkirchen campground seems to be most popular. I stayed
there last year.

While I have no idea if they have any room at this point, I can recommend
enthusiastically the CVJM Muenchen, essentially a Y. It is a hostel like
accomodation where you share a room in a double or triple It's really
conveniently located about 4 blocks from the Hauptbahnhof and easy walking
distance to both Marienplatz and the Theresienweise. Best of all it is very
inexpensive., from $25 Euro a night for a triple (24 if you stay 3 nights)
Breakfast is very good, theplace is very clean and secure and despite being a
Christian organization, there is very little church stuff going on, if that
bothers you (essentially you need to ask) They even have beer and wine some
evenings in their cafe.

Thanks for the info. It appears that you have to be back at the
Hostel by 30 past midnight though. Not sure if that is feasable. But
at least it is a start.

They're used to rather early hours in Munich though.
The Wiesenfeld, the most likely place to be, closes at 22:30 as I can
remember so unless you continue somewhere else you're fine.

Hi,
Please consider staying in a town outside Munich. The S-Bahn is great
for getting to and from the Oktoberest grounds. S-Bahn map:

You can get a room cheap in the smaller towns.
