I've taken many a taxi from the centre of Barcelona to the airport, and
it's a 20 minute ride tops in light traffic at that time of day, and
around 25 euros. I'd probably prefer to stay in the city, myself. Sorry
if that's not particularly helpful. On weekdays, traffic gets heavy from
around 0730 IME, but even then I don't think it's taken me longer than
30 minutes.

What's your budget? The Novotel or NH at Cornellà, or any of the
hotels at el Prat may work for you, just look on any hotel search
engine for hotels at El Prat de Llobregat, the town where the airport
is. Some will even have a free shuttle to/from the airport.

However, as David said, it's not that long a ride from the city
center, especially for an early morning departure.
