Is there a car park near British museum ? Is that within congestion
charging zone? I am planning on driving there during week-end, any
suggestion for/against?

Its well served by public transport, and parking could be expensive

No congestion charge Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday. There is some street
parking near the university, around Gordon Square and Mallet St - certainly
free on Sundays, after 6 pm Saturdays. 5-10 min walk to British Museum. A
bit further, but near Euston Station is free Saturday pm.

the museum is between two tube stops, or 3, and a large bus terminal

There is a multi storey NCP at the junction of Museum Street and High
Holborn, within 5 minutes walk of the museum.
Look here to find others nearby:
http://www.ncp.co.uk/
Search for car parks near Great Russell Street, then click on any in
central London for a map.
There's also some on-street parking in the area, but it will mean lots
of driving round to find a free space and possibly a further walk.

Yes, it is in the congestion zone. There may well be commercial car
parks not too far away, but they won't be cheap.
If you've got the use of your legs, there really isn't a lot of point
trying to drive in central London.
If you're driving from somewhere outside London, park somewhere
outside the congestion zone and come in by public transport.

A friend of mine and somebody in this group suggested to try on
Sunday, which we did and it was not too bad.
ANybody, who prefer to drive to the place, for any reason, I would
suggest try a Sunday, when the street parking are free and you will
definitely find a place. For our case, it was within 50m of the
museum. It can be bit longer walk, but should not be too bad.
