Paris Hostel

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I just planned a trip to Paris which happens in 2-3 weeks from now, got
the plane/train tickets and I desperately need your help in finding a
hostel!
We're 2 students on a tight budget, so we won't be able to pay for a
regular hotel room, we want to be in the city, we don't care if the
hostel is crowded (actually we may even want to stay with other
students/backpackers for the fun of it). We can accept relatively low
standards but we won't want the place to be TOO filthy. Please let me
know any places that you have 1st hand experience with or places you
have heard about from a close friend. I am already searcing from the
web but any comments from experienced people will really help me out.
THANK YOU!

We might know someone with space in his broom cupboard.

My newphew just got back from 2 months travelling like that. There is one
near the Eiffel Tower which you can e-mail for bookings at
[email protected] or check their website at www.gomio.com.
Later in his trip he started staying at camp sites where they rent you
everything you need and are often very well equipped (showers, store,
bar/resto, internet). There is one in the Bois de Boulogne, click on
http://www.abccamping.com/campingparis.htm
You can search for other possibilities by going to www.pagesjaunes.fr and
entering, without the quotes, "auberges de jeuness" (youth hostels) or
"camping" for Activité and Paris or Paris 07 (for the 7th Arrondissment) for
Localité.

There's a hostel right next to the Gare D'Est, 20 euros per night.
Small, crowded, but clean rooms. I can't remember the name, but it's
right around the corner from the Hotel Ibis nearest to the station.
The area is kind of out of the way, but you are just a few metro stops
from most places of interest.

Theres a guy in the middle of Paris who has quite a lot of space, but he is
a lil scrooge if you see what I mean....
He's desperately looking for chit chat conversation though, so maybe you
could strike a deal with him, even if his wife isn't very commode...
You'll find him easily, hes the weatherman of the group and also likes to
post all sorts of news extracts to show off what he's reading, even if he
doesn't understand everything !
Not only you would stay in the quartier Latin, but it would be a good deed
Don't forget to water him from time to time during the canicule
Bon séjour

This hostel is in a lovely 13th century building and the building next
door has gargoyles that are just outside the windows. It is very clean
but facilities are limited. Although the building as lots of character,
the hostel has no social atmosphere as it caters to groups rather than
independent travellers. It has excellent security - you have to walk
past the reception to get inside, there is key card access to the
building and rooms, there is video surveillance and lockers are available.
Cost
Dorm bed €29.50 first night, €27 subsequent nights
Single room €44.50 first night, €42 subsequent nights
Double room €69 first night, €64 subsequent nights
