Default OT - mail forwarding to Paris

Sorry for this off-topic question, but don't know who to ask:
US post office will not charge for forwarding my mail to Paris, but
will the French Poste charge anything?
Thanks,
Pete

If the USPS are really saying that they will not charge for international
mail forwarding, something I doubt greatly, then La Poste will not charge
for incoming mail provided it is sufficiently stamped/prepaid.

However, if you pay $0....

Or the thirty-seven cents which is all mail within the U.S.
requires..... No charge for forwarding DOES sound a little unbelievable
- although the "forwarding" might be by slow boat. I sent a birthday
card (airmail) to someone in France, last August. I didn't know the
person had moved, so the card was returned "adressee unknown" (the
French equivalent of the phrase, of course). It WAS returned, but I
didn't get it back until the end of October. If that's the speed at
which mail is forwarded overseas, you'd better be sure anyone likely to
send anything important knows your new address! (I don't imagine our
postal department is in any more of a hurry about such things than those
of other countries.)
