Default Which one makes for a better Used car to buy in Europe ?

Hello all,

My fiance, is in Rome, Italy and she is in need of a used car.

She is considering one of the following:

*Daewoo Matiz
*Hyundai Atos
*Hyundai Van
*Suzuki WagonR

She is buying used, so am wondering if you have any
suggestions/experience as to which one of these makes for better used
car as far as quality goes. Also important is the safety features.

I would really appreciate any oponions you have on any of these or any
other car.

thanks much.

Of the ones mentioned the Daewoo would be my choice BUT if she can
locate a good used Toyota anything she's be far better off. The build
quality of even the Daewoo leaves much to be desired IMHO.

Don't know about the first three, however my wife drives a Wagon R and is
delighted with it, the visibility is excellent and town parking is a
doddle.I drive it in preference to my Peugot 806 on short runs and in town
although we have driven it down to Malaga from Mid Wales and
back(3000Miles)on occasions. It has never let us down, the engine is like
a little watch, superbly quiet but has a surprising performance if you use
the gears. It has twin air bags and side impact protection bars in each
door. The back seats fold down to provide a very large space behind the
front seats. We get approx 50MPG on average. I have no connection with
Suzuki, am not impressed generally with the rest of their range, but am an
enthusiastic owner and supporter of the Wagon R.
I have no hesitation in recommending it, but the others you mention may be
just as good, I just don't know them and have not driven them.
Good Luck

Whichever one has the largest European service network. Tell her to get a
very popular one. Sooner or later it will need service.

None of them are exactly huge makes in Europe. Daewoo is realtively new and
has been in some financial troubles, I believe it may have gone bust. Suzuki
has a large network but is more renouned for it's bikes than cars. Hyundai
should have a large dealership network however. The Atos is a decent car,
not mindblowing, but decent. As another poster has said the WagonR is a
nifty little thing.

Just take a quick run up to the car factory in Maranello, perhaps they
have a used car lot. Even pick up a new one there, the resale value
should be pretty good compared to other new cars.

The Lamborghini place is not too far, just south of Lake Bolseno. Pick
up some wine at the same time.

Then she has to get herself a Fiat, if she's in Italy anyway. Korean Cars
are not very common in Europe, neither ist Suzuki.
