I promised my parents I would leave the newsgroups alone and in
fact we're arranging to have them blocked so I won't be tempted to use
them. But I thought I'd better explain why I've been posting this
car-free stuff so many times. I'll make it simple so this message is
short and sweet. Here are the reasons:

1. Environmentalists, smart growth and New Urbanism advocates and
their predictions for the future
2. The novel "Ecotopia" by Ernest Callenbach
3. Reading about car-free cities
4. The environmental movement
5. Efforts in California to make that city with the golden bridge
sustainable
