October Travel in Italy: Friends Of Roman Cats
I am going on this particular tour - it is *almost* full to capacity -
but there is still time. It is a unique opportunity to visit many of
the popular Italian destinations with an underlying theme: how Italy has
been treating its precious cats.
I have no affiliation with this organization, but share this information
in the hopes that it will bring joy to those who take advantage of it!
From their brochure:
Friends of Roman Cats, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, presents a
15-day educational tour of Italy from October 4 - 18, 2004. The tour
will combine some of the best Italian cultural sites with some of its
most interesting cat sites. All profits from the tour will go to our
programs to help the stray cats of Italy.

When I was last in Italy, the proliferation of healthy feral cats in
Rome, in particular, was amazing, and the entire country seems to
have a good deal of concern for the cats that live as ferals
everywhere. I imagine this tour would be very interesting.
I will never forget watching a cat lounging in the Coliseum, clearly
in his own "home".

Re: October Travel in Italy: Friends Of Roman Cats
Hello,
The wife and I are traveling to Rome, Italy next week (fly
out Sunday 10 Oct 2004) for a business trip for me - she
gets to shop, sightsee, etc. This will be a FIRST TIME TRIP
TO ITALY FOR BOTH OF US.
She’s interested in see sights in Rome that are Christian
related.
We would appreciate any tips, pointers, whatever anyone may
have about how she can manage her time while I’m tied up in
meetings. For me, I’m considering this trip an opportunity
to plan for the next “non-business trip back to Rome/Italy.
Any heads-up about the weather next week would be greatly
appreciated. Hopefully, it will minimize the amount we
over-pack for the trip. Also, are there any websites that
are more specific to ROME, ITALY?
Thanks in advance,
Travelers from the Pacific NW

Subjects like this in rec.pets.cats should be marked OT (Off Topic), but
indeed, there are cats in Italy, too, lots of them! :-)

layers and waterproof jacket -- this time of year is not predicatable
but also not terribly cold so the right mix of layers plus a raincoat is
the right idea
any guide book can show you dozens of 'Christian' sites -- one that
might get overlooked that I loved is San Clemente which has several
churches beginning with a Mithric temple, on top of each other. the
churches of Rome are a weeks worth of traveling around Rome --
