This is good. I have been banned from smoking my after dinner cigar
almost everywhere, except Holland, for a few decades. It's time to clamp
down on every puffer, across the board and fair and square.

My question: when will "Northern Ireland" be given its freedom and
returned to Ireland? A few hundred years of colonialization should have
been enough for the British crown. But then again, given the mentality
(more appropriately, the lack thereof) of the "royals" nothing can be
determined.

Yes, and when is the US going to give Puerto Rico its freedom?

And what on earth does it have to do with the royals?

Especially the buggers who selfishly smoke cheap cigars in
restaurants.

The "royals" don't decide things like this. UK &NI has a
constitutional monarchy. The majority of the NI population are happy
with the status quo.

Yes- good news. I think it's safe to assume that this will mean the
blanket ban will be enforced in England too- as Scotland and Wales will
go that way. Pity it will take so long though before it comes into
effect...

Stop hi-jacking this thread with your ill-informed pseudo-political
claptrap and personal comments about the Royal family, troll.

There used to be a British comedian with the
stage-name of Nosmo King.

I read somewhere that they were happy for the jobs as companies pay
less tax there than on the mainland US

When the Protestant majority want to I would guess. Funny thing about
democracy, doesn't always give the politically correct answer.

Hopefully any time the locals manage to get an independence act
together. Having them part of the country without paying taxes is a
drag. Personally I would like to see a forced choice vote put to them.
One chance choose statehood or independence.

I'm sure the UK would be just delighted to "give NI back to Ireland"
as John Bermont naively puts it. They've even said they'd respect the
results of a vote on the subject. There's just a tiny little problem:
most of the people who live there don't want that outcome and would
probably start a civil war if it were forced on them. .

Teensy little problem - the majority of NI inhabitants would regard NI
being "given its freedom" and being "returned to Ireland" as two
different and mutually exclusive courses of action.
