Sounds like quite bad luck. It was definitely very nice on March 19 (Monday) in your part of the UK, because I flew over it from Bergen to Manchester, and got the clearest view of the area I think I've ever gotten! :) As well as statistics (which show better weather in the east in general) I'm impressed by the number of times I've been to various eastern spots in the UK in recent years with fine weather. Half a dozen trips to Newcastle and environs in the last few years, as well as the same to Aldeburgh, always sunny! However, there is the time we took a trip to Scarborough and the sun came out for 5 seconds! Maybe I should only ever go to the east on business? :) -- (*) ... of the royal duchy of city south and deansgate David Horne- http://www.davidhorne.net (don't email yahoo address) usenet (at) davidhorne (dot) co (dot) uk |

Maybe I should only ever >go to the east on business? :) Arriva has lost the Middlesborough Whitby franchise, the company that replaced it is running cheap trips to and from York. The North York Moors Railway is running steam trains from Pickering to Whitby. Public transport is almost back to where it was 50 years ago, other than the closed coastal lines. :-) -- Martin |
