That I do not understand. I would have stayed there and bugged them until they
put me on another flight. I bet they would have put you on something.

My flight was supposed to be Sat at 1:40pm with a 4
hour layover. They offerred me Mon 9am with a 9 hr
layover. I turned it down, I paid for better service.

Okay, well I'm glad it turned out okay for you. For me, I don't get to travel
much and I'd have done anything to get on a plane and begin my trip. But
that's me.
I will say, since this was to be your first trip to Europe, you probably need
to be a little more flexible and less willing to let things spoil your trip.
I'm not saying this wasn't a bad deal for you, but I'm saying that being
willing to cancel an entire trip because it wasn't exactly the way you wanted
probably was a good idea after all, because you probably would not have enjoyed
your trip. Things don't usually go as planned it seems a shame to let that
spoil your trip. But I've seen it happen.

You still might have insisted that that was not acceptable. They
probably would have come up with something.

Well for my tickets if I don't go on the flight I lose my trip. End of
story. I don't think the airline particularly cares as it has already got my
money.
