Default Munich hotel

Any thoughts on a hotel in Munich that is well located to allow walking
to points of interest, museums, outdoor cafes and lively night spots
rather than needing to use buses or cabs?

You don't mention a price range, but Hotel Platzl is well located.
What are you willing to spend? How long a visit?

I can totally reconmend Hotel Eder having stayed there around 10 times in
the last 15 yrs.
Lovely place, family run, very clean, good prices for the location.
Its a 1minute walk from Marianplatz - which is like bang on the center of
Munich.
MP has U-Bahn links to the rest of the city.
Trams stop even closer, about 20 secs walk.
Its about 2 mins from the best trad German food and beer in town, which is
not the HofbrauHaus, but is in fact the

"Getting to the Augustiner Bräustuben involves a fairly long walk from
the city centre. Heading west along Landsbergerstrasse, the road
immediately to the south of the Hauptbahnhof, the beer hall about ten
minutes' walk away, on the south side of the road. It's not
particularly eyecatching from the outside, but if you're walking along
the road after dark, you'll easily identify it as the only place
that's still open."

A 15-20 minute walk? The hotel can't be 1 minute from Marienplatz and
2 minutes from the Augustiner-braustuben.

The MG/Rover Tardis is the standard vehicle for time travel.

I'm confused, I thought the Augustiner was mid way between Marienplatz and
Karlsplatz. Or are you talking about a different place??

He gave the directions on how to get to the large Augustiner beer
garden in Landsbergerstrasse.

Yep, they've got a few places in Munchen.
Check out http://www.augustiner-braeu.de/ for locations.
