Usually, I like to stay in cool hotels at the city center, but this
one time, I'm going to have a car, and parking in a large city like
Bologna can be a major headache. I'm thinking on this one occasion of
staying outside the city, driving to the periphery and using public
transport to spend a day, then heading back to the motel/hotel at
night. I also have to get to the Marco Polo Airport in Venice late in
the morning (we'll already have spent several days in Venice). SO,
are there Formule 1/Etap-like chains on the highways of Italy? Any
good ones near Bologna? If there's a moderate hotel in the city where
I can keep the car, I'm more than willing to give it a try!

This one:

is about three bus stops from the center (very convenient, actually), is
pretty easy to get to from the motorway, and is in a quiet residential area
that doesn't "feel" like city. It has its own garage. The rates can be
pretty reasonable. One poster complained of noise from adjacent rooms, but
I didn't hear any.
