Most romantic destination in Europe?

Thanks to all who responded to my previous post regarding France. We are in the
process of planning all of the details.
My question now is what is the most romantic spot in Europe for a honeymoon?
Venice? Isle of Capri? Paris? My reason for asking is that I want to make sure
I *don't* go there on this trip, as I want to save it for my future honeymoon.

My opinion only, is:
Hotel room overlooking Princess Street in Edinburgh.
Anywhere in Venice that isn't close to San Marcos or the RR station.
Any hotel overlooking the caldera on Santorina in the Greek Islands.
Not necessarily in that order, and I wouldn't want to debate it with anyone.
It's very personal and you may not agree. Have a great honeymoon whenever
it happens....

Venice is too busy to be romantic honeymoon stuff IMO. Do you want to
be in a place full of rubbernecking tourists on your honeymoon? I
would have thought some villa on a warm island? I dont know Capri,
but it sounds more the ticket, I wonder if it lives up to its
reputation? Paris, London (both a bit grey), Madrid, (too much) Milan,
a bit, well, busy? How would somewhere a bit smaller like Sienna be, I
wonder?

I had an extra sentence in my reply which I deleted on second
thoughts! :-)
Castle on small remote scottish island, peat fire and a bottle of
whisky?

I got married in Capri and I loved it there. Can be busy in the tourist
season though, but you don't have to work too hard to escape the crowds.

If you think Venice is full of rubbernecking tourists, you certainly don't
know Capri. It is dreadful in season. It has a limited number of places to
go to and the transport to get you there so it is queuing from the moment
you arrive. It is full of tacky tourist trash and the natives are fairly
hostile and rapacious. I only stayed about an hour and jumped on an Aliscafo
for Amalfi. It was much better.
Islay is a good place to go. Castles are a bit thin on the ground but that
is more than made up for by the seven exceedingly good distilleries.
Plenty of peat fires also but I wouldn't go in winter.

1.) Cap Ferrat - gorgeous romantic town & all kinds of things to see &
do - or just relax
2.) Santorini - spectacular, inexpensive & romantic!
enjoy!

No, dont consider the Highlands in winter, it will either rain all the
time or if it snows the roads will be impassable.

This is an intensely personal question. For me and mine, the most romantic
place in europe is undoubtedly in a castle hotel in the Rhine Gorge in
Germany.
