Most Dutch cities / towns
Amsterdam was nice but it had that Bangkok flavor. I'd like to visit
cities / towns in the Netherlands that are less cosmopolitan and more
traditional Holland. Delft and Haarlem were nice. Suggestions?

Leiden and my home town The Hague!
It's not cosmo but it's green and has a lot of class.
You can see the Peace Palace, the Queens Palace, as well as Slobodan
Milosovitch -if you'r lucky enough to catch a glimb at the int. court house.

Leiden and my home town The Hague!
It's not cosmo but it's green and has a lot of class.
You can see the Peace Palace, the Queens Palace, as well as Slobodan
Milosovitch -if you'r lucky enough to catch a glimb at the int. court house.

Yep - I'd go for Utrectht. Nice place scenically, virtually non-tourist. But
it *is* Dutch - and anyone not knowing Holland and wanting to see the 'real'
version might not find it so fascinating after all!

it *is* Dutch - and anyone not knowing Holland and wanting to see the 'real'
version might not find it so fascinating after all!

I'll add one of my favorite cities - Gouda. I also like Leiden,
Utrecht, the Hague, and Dordrecht.

Steady on Barbara. I recommended Leiden and Gouda too, the next thing
is that Leiden will be full of tourists. :-)
The fact that there is almost nowhere to park deters most of the
tourists.

It was obvious to me. There are at least two Hollands, the quaint
historic gabled houses, windmills, inhabited by clog wearing, cheese
selling, tulip growing people, tourist version and the real Holland
full of real people living real lives in modern apartment blocks.

There was a guy that posted here once that he found Amsterdam to be
like New York. I find the comparison to Bangkok just as ludicrous.

If you're tired of Amsterdam, I'd stay home next time. Did you actually
get off the Damrak? As a tourist trap Amsterdam is a real clip joint,
but as a city to live in it is easily one of the best in Europe when it
comes to quality of life. Cycle round the Vondelpark, attend an open air
concert on the Prinsengracht, shop at the Noordermarkt....

If you're tired of Amsterdam, I'd stay home next time. Did you actually
get off the Damrak? As a tourist trap Amsterdam is a real clip joint,
but as a city to live in it is easily one of the best in Europe when it
comes to quality of life. Cycle round the Vondelpark, attend an open air

I traveled all over Amsterdam using the tram, visiting museums, bars,

Don't know about Leiden but second Maastricht being the main food city of
Netherlands.
Stayed at "Old Hickory", modest hotel at an affordable price but with a
real excellent (and expensive) restaurant. Wonderful food it was.

Don't know about Leiden but second Maastricht being the main food city of
Netherlands.
Stayed at "Old Hickory", modest hotel at an affordable price but with a
real excellent (and expensive) restaurant. Wonderful food it was.
