Default Morecambe Grammar School reunion

Invitation to the 2012 MGS REUNION

In 2012 most of us will be 60 years old. The last reunion was 10 years ago and many felt that now was the time to have another.

Contacting those with email addresses from 2002 soon showed that people had moved on or retired and the emails were no longer valid. Similarly the Friends Reunited email addresses are not current. After a rapid publicity drive enough people were found to form the kernel of another reunion. A small committee was formed and views received from many of the contacts resulting in the following reunion plan -

Event : BBQ
Date : Evening of 9 June 2012
Location : Vale of Lune Rugby Club ( nb indoor facilities available if needed due to bad weather). Closing date for the catering numbers is Monday 28 May 2012
Eligible 1 : MGS pupils from the 1963 intake (and those joining that year later)

Eligible 2 : MGS pupils from 1962 and 1964 with links to the 1963 year

Eligible 3 : Teaching staff active 1963 to 1970

Who : Pupils and teachers, but no partners

Accommodation 1 : The Midland will hold 15 rooms for us and these will be at a discounted price. Anyone wanting to book a room should email Vic Price ( [email protected] or 01524 812141 ) BEFORE 31 MARCH. On 31 March, Vic will have to let the Midland know how many rooms we want and at that stage he will get a price. People will then need to contact the Midland quoting the ref. that he will be given and pay a deposit.

Accommodation 2 : If the Midland is a bit dear (plan for around £90 including breakfast) there is a brand new Travelodge about 4 minutes walk from the Midland and there are a limited number of rooms at £19 (not including breakfast!) if people are quick - book on 00 800 30 66 30 66. There are also plenty of other hotels on the prom - Headway, Strathmore etc. but then everyone knows that 'cos we're all from Morecambe !

I will list confirmed names on the website as I get them.

Please confirm if you can make this ASAP.

Regards

New website : http://www.mgs1970.com

The previous site at www.mgs1970.netfirms.com has been hosted free since 2002. The site has remained online even though netfirms stopped free hosting many years ago and the site grew to be much bigger than the previous free disk storage limit. The site was reliably hosted with the exception of problems with bandwidth at the time of the cockle pickers disaster where the world keyed "morecambe" into google.
