So? I remember similar winters when I used to go skiing there more than 30
years ago.

I saw plenty of snow in Southern France, when I visited the Millau vidauct
over Christmas.

It would rhyme better but ...
Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry
When I take you out in the surrey,
When I take you out in the surrey with the fringe on top!
Watch that fringe and see how it flutters
When I drive them high steppin' strutters.
...

Ah, the weather. Many complain about it but nobody can do anything about
it. But then I could be wrong (happened before). Do you have an answer
Earl? But please don't give out with the "global warming" lefto-politic
rant. The earth has boiled and frozen many times before this era, and
will do so again. Recently we have had unprecedented rains in Southern
California and huge snowfalls in the California mountains. The European
skiers are flocking over, as I read, for the snow and the cheap dollar.
Things will change. That's the way it goes.

Why not? And what's with the "lefto-politic" tag?
The new thing now is global dimming. Why not dismiss that out of hand
before you learn anything about it?

As another data point in the discussion about strange weather:
Ontario, Canada is not usually noted as having one of the world's
balmier climes, but Toronto recorded its warmest January day ever (since
records have been kept) yesterday. The temperature hit 18 C.
But that changed overnight, and we're back to -4 with an inch or so
of snow today.

Plagiarizing Mark Twain. But actually some people pray to what ever
supernatural power they believe influences it. Thor is the Norse god of
thunder, for instance.

Actually, I posted this item without saying anything. You are the one
who thought of global warming!

"unprecedented", but you claim above this has all happened
before??

I'm skeptical. It could be a media created phenomenon. There are
scientists who say there is no "global warming" taking place, some others
say there is but it's probably not caused by human activities. Those two
are relevant fractions of the scientific community but they get little
airtime. The only ones which do are those who say there's a disaster
coming up and humans are to blame. Journalists simplify this claim and
echo it over and over without much critical reflection. Actually when you
look at it from some distance, doesn't it strike you as rather biblical?
Could that be the reason the media find it so attractive?
