Default Madrid - accomodation

Hi!

Could anyone suggest some basic/inexpensive accomodation in Madrid (center1),
pensions, B&B, hotels or private accomodation, anything but hostels.

Thx!

A few years ago I stayed at the Hotel Santander and enjoyed it.

The whole place is riddled with pensiones. Just walk down any street looking at the
signs by the doorbells.

Here is the link to a fairly nice hostal. Pretty good prices, great location, very
clean, friendly owners. I've stayed here numerous times. Its not the best deal in
town, but it is very convenient because you can make reservations by email. They
have quite a few rooms, so I have only found them to be full during the rush of
school breaks (one big downfall is that in certain seasons they cater to school
groups - not particilarly well-behaved or quiet ones ;-). If you decide after a night
that this place is not for you....Calle Principe (and Called del Prado - adjacent) is
full of other options.

try this site www.madridman.com My personal
recommendation would be Hostal Chelo, run by a lovely family, we're returning this
september for our third visit. Its just off Grand Via. Only a couple of streets from
Chueca. Details will be on madridmans site HTH Jan

I just read that web site on Hostal Villar and see that they have HITTING as an extra
service in the rooms.

.................Our rooms have several services like hitting, telephone, television
with parabolic channels .......

Hi Mikula We have stayed at this one http://www.hotelsearch.com/madrid/aliste/ and can recommend it. The
surrounding area is a bit dubious, but the security of the building is very high. It
is a couple of minutes walk from Puerto de Soller, just off Gran
Via. The owners are helpful and it's very clean. Tina.

I stayed in one called the Europa Hotel, very near the city centre, cheap, cheerful,
friendly and the cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in. Dan.

Hello,

Here you have an interesting list of cheap accommodations in Madrid (not hostels!) ...

Hotel Europa (1-star) => http://www.hoteleuropa.es/
Aparthotel Príncipe 11 (2-stars) => http://www.atprincipe11.com/
Hotel Don Ramón de la Cruz (2-stars) => http://www.hotelramondelacruz.com/
Hotel Plaza Mayor (2-stars) => http://www.h-plazamayor.com/ (the one I like more! 50 meters from Plaza Mayor!)
Aparhotel En Busca del tiempo (2-stars) => http://www.enbuscadeltiempo.com/ (very nice site)
Hotel Asturias (2-stars) => http://www.hotel-asturias.com/index.english.html

I hope you like any of these sites ....

Regards.

Pablo
