luggage safety in Paris-Nord station
Hello everyone,
I just talk to my friend who's lived in Paris for four years about my
plan of leaving my luggage in a locker in the train station at
Paris-Nord for a short tour of Paris when waiting for my relative come
to meet me. He said I'd rather not do that because there is no safety
at all at Paris specially at a train station. I may found my luggage
gone when coming back!!!
Any comment? I plan to do that in Venice too!
Thanks,
hq

Paris-Nord is indeed not a very nifty neighboorhood (i.e. the station
and the surrounding area). I don't think lockers get opened though and
there, as everywhere in Paris, there are lots of police. The Eurostar
arrives there with lots of bigwig businessmen and they usually get to
their destination... I'm a bit surprised there should be any lockers at
all (they have all been eliminated at CDG for example).
Perhaps you should ask your friend about comparative safety with places
you know at home?

Re: luggage safety in Paris-Nord station
Well, I can only speak from personal experience - in the last few years I
must have entrusted my bags to the Paris-Nord left luggage at least 20 times
and I've never once had a problem.

Re: luggage safety in Paris-Nord station
I never had trouble with lockers... Anyway, because of the bombing menaces,
lockers are under police scrutiny now, so your luggage should be
double-safe.

Re: luggage safety in Paris-Nord station
thanks for all answers. Maybe my friends never uses the locker
before. How much I'll pay for using them?

I don't remember too well, but I think less than 5 euros per day.

I did this without concern or incident and would do it again without
concern or incident.
