Hi,
Can anyone reccomend a cheap hotel in the Oxford/Soho area of london, or is
there no such thing?
Need to find a hotel for a group of 30 people for next April for 2 nights,
seems very expensive judging by the prices i've seen so far
Thanks in advance

not directly in soho, but about a km northwest from it is the blandford.
they have doubles for gbp 79, reasonably cheap for london i'd say.
here's the link: http://www.bookings.org/hotel/gb/bla...tml?aid=301128
other under gbp 80 hotels on www.booknowpaylater.com.
hope this helps.

Try www.laterooms.com.
I recently got the Strand Palace Hotel near Trafalgar Square for £50
per night (single room). Normal price £170.

Looks like they have good deals but their website is b0rken. Anytime
I click a "next" tab to see more listings my browser comes back with a
blank screen. (Maybe it's set up to work only with Internet Explorer,
which I don't use.)
If you're willing to accept one of the first 50 listings, it appears
to work.

If you keep your eyes open, I understand that the Jurys chain of hotels
often has some excellent deals on their web site and look to be nice
hotels (I can say more when I get back from a trip in about two week).
The normal discount prices are a bit more than you're looking for
(£85-105 per night, depending on date and location) but have some good
locations. We're staying at their Great Russell Street location that's
very close to the British Museum.
Of course, it might be worth calling the hotel directly to see if they
can make special arrangements in advance for a large group

The Regent Palace Hotel off Piccadilly Circus is pretty cheap (singles are
around GBP 48) and almost unbeatably convenient for Oxford Street and
Soho. It's not luxurious (but not dubious: just a bit down-at-heel) and
can be rather noisy, inevitable given its location.
Alternatively, Google will find you /lots/ of cheap, quieter and often
nicer hotels in the slightly-further-away Bloomsbury area, near the
British Museum: about a quarter of an hour's brisk walk or a very short
Tube journey from the areas you mention.
