The catch is that such prices are almost unavailable.
Tried the best with late November departures and lowes found was £29 , not
cheap for such inconvenient travel

For late November, cheapest TRAIN fare available right now is GBP 37
(Standard Class Off Peak 2 Return) for a *return*. Single journeys are
showing as low as GBP 16.00.
Buses would have to be really cheap to compensate for the longer journey
times.

Maybe not that long a journey, but I've gone from Manchester to Glasgow
several times now on megabus for around £2.50 return, and the journey
was very pleasant.

The National Express offer is their response to the competition from
Megabus (www.megabus.com). Limited availability on both.

:-)
