Default London to Birmingham

Hi,
We are planning to move to Birmingham in April 2003 from California
USA. Can somebody suggest the best way to reach to Birmingham from
Heathrow Airport. We will be four (two adults and two kids) and
luggage too.

Thanks in advance

for four of you with luggage, a minibus taxi would probably work out most
convenient and pretty cost effective - the main advantage is that you will
be taken from door to door at both ends

www.yell.com will provide a list if noboby gives a personal recommendation

Why on earth would anyone want to do that ?

As wessie said a minibus/taxi may be best but will probably cost about
120-150 GBP (I'm guessing), try www.gobycoach.com and then you may need a
taxi at the other end. I wouldn't even bother to look at train options, but
www.railtrack.co.uk has timetables, and there is no main rail station at
heathrow. I guess you can't get a flight into Birmingham airport ??

If the OP did decide to use public transport the sensible route is Railair
bus from Heathrow to Reading (takes about 50 minutes) then train to
Birmingham (takes about 1hr 45 mins), rather than going into London and
out again.

If you're getting on a coach, I think you might as well go all the way to
Brum, with a shortest time of 2 hrs 20 mins, slightly quicker than going on
the Railair link, even if you are lucky enough to arrive at Reading just as
a train is about to leave.
