Default On-line accommodation experiences thanks?

Hi all,

I recently asked some questions & got excellent answers - many thanks, so I
now have another question!

Has anyone any feedback regarding on line accommodation booking - that is
from the many search engines found on many sites? Or better still can anyone
recommend any sites they have used?

I'm looking at Venice, Florence, Rome, Paris, and London for next
March/April. Many sites don't go past late 2002 or March 31st. so the final
cost is often unknown!

I frequently use on-line payments, but aren't all that keen to give card
details to numerous sites that can't really guarantee accommodation or even
a reply!

Any good/bad experiences that anyone has had would be very much appreciated
or any good links.

Thanks all!!!

I have used www.ase.net in Europe (they are worldwide) and
http://www.sinohotel.com/ in China, both
excellent. (Note: this is not
www.sinohotels.com, which is another service; I have not used that one).

I've used http://www.hrs.de/ and
http://www.hotelguide.com/ a few
times with good results. Their databases seems to be more complete
than some of the others. With any online booking, make sure you print
and carry the paper confirmation.

Once I've located a prospective hotel, I also made it a practice to
look for it on a couple of other sites as well as the hotels own site
before booking it. Rates quoted may differ and special deals may not
appear everywhere.

I've had real good luck with Yahoo/Travelocity for booking places in Spain,
Italy, Austria, and the Czech Republic (it's simply Travelocity, but I use a
Yahoo 'wallet' that contains all my booking and credit card information).
I've used it a LOT. What I found most surprising is that after I would
search around and usually find that other services were asking more for the
same dates--often much more. It was good for $50 or $60 singles, including
weekend specials at 4-star hotels. It's always worth trying at least one or
two more wholesalers, though, as well as the hotel's direct website if they
have one. The only problem I had with Travelocity was when booking three
people in two rooms at a hotel in Seville--it would have been better to make
two separate bookings instead of doubling it up as one.

I've also had good luck and ease of use with Venere.it for Italy.

Hi,

I had good success with:
- www.venere.it for hotels in Rome & Florence in 2000
- www.bookings.nl for hotels in Amsterdam & Brussels in 1999, 2000 &
2001
- www.hotelsholidays.com for hotel in Bangkok in 2002

All of these sites were flexible re: payment/confirmation, able to
give quick turnaround on guaranteed room, & gave clear explanation of
the cancellation policy (as it often varied from hotel to hotel).

Cheers, Steve

Default HotelSearch

Hello,

I normally travel to differents cities in Spain and always use

http://www.hotelsearch.com/

It offers on-line reservations system over 100 hotels in Madrid, 70 in Barcelona, 7-8 in Seville, Granada, 4-5 in Córdoba, Málaga, Bilbao, Valencia, Mallorca, Canay Islands, Saragossa, San Sebastián, Santander, etc ...
It redirects to the accommodations web site and there and after seeing the hotel, pohots, facilities, amenities, etc ... if you want you reserve a room and receive an email confirmation instantly.

I really recommend it.

Traveling to Rome I used http://www.venere.it/ and my experience was not good.

Regards.
