Default Keukenhof Gardens from Amsterdam

Looking for best way to get from central Amsterdam to the Keukenhof
Gardens. I am assuming rail, but have found some difficulty in finding the
right station for the gardens.

Thanks for the help.

It has been YEARS since I've been, but IIRC there is not a rail station
at the GArdens. The town is Lisse, and you need to take a train part of the
the way and the bus the other part of the way. It is fairly easy to find out
once in Amsterdam; the local tourist office has the info.

Someone else will no doubt give you better info than I.

Take the train from Amsterdam Centraal to Leiden (about 35 minutes,
every 10 minutes) and change to the direct bus to the Keukenhof, line
54 (about 25 minutes, every 30 minutes).

You can get a special ticket for the Keukenhof gardens at Centraal
Station. You then take the train to Leiden and a shuttle bus
outside the station directly to the Keukenhof.

Enjoy! The gardens are an unforgettable experience.

BTW a couple of years ago I went on what was quite a sunny day at the
beginning of May. The previous day was a scorcher and I had to take
my sweater off and walk about in just shirt sleeves, carrying the
sweater and my anorak. When I went to the Keukenhof it was also
sunny and quite pleasant in Amsterdam so I decided to leave my
sweater behind. Big mistake! It was sunny at the Keukenhof but
bitterly cold as there was a biting wind. I really regretted not
having a warm sweater with me.

The following day I purchased a cheap backpack and since then I have
carried a small umbrella and sweater on those "in-between" days. It
is also useful for bottles of water, snacks, purchases etc.

The easy way is a train to Leiden and the Keukenhof bus which sits right
outside the station when Keukenhof is in business. A better way IMO
would be take the train to Haarlem, Heemstede-Aerdenhout, or Hillegom,
rent a bike at the station, and pedal down there. Hillegom is much
closer.

Panorama Tulipland is worth a visit while you are in the area. It is
in Voorhout , which is the next village to Lisse. Voorhout is on the
Amsterdam-Haarlem-Leiden railway line.

Details of how to get to Keukenhof are on their website.
