BAGHDAD — Leaders and supporters of the anti-U.S. insurgency say their
attacks in recent weeks have a clear objective: The greater the
violence, the greater the chances that President Bush will be defeated
on Tuesday and the Americans will go home.
"If the U.S. Army suffered numerous humiliating losses,
[Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John] Kerry would emerge as the
superman of the American people," said Mohammad Amin Bashar, a leader
of the Muslim Scholars Association, a hard-line clerical group that
vocally supports the resistance.
Resistance leader Abu Jalal boasted that the mounting violence had
already hurt Mr. Bush's chances.
"American elections and Iraq are linked tightly together," he told
a Fallujah-based Iraqi reporter. "We've got to work to change the
election, and we've done so. With our strikes, we've dragged Bush into
the mud....... Abu Jalal, answering questions submitted to him
through the Iraqi journalist, devised a simple formula for how his
group's attacks on American soldiers draw votes from Mr. Bush.
"They say there are 1,100 dead soldiers. That means 1,100 families
hold grudges against Bush and hate him. There are 6,000 families whose
sons were injured who hate Bush and will not re-elect him."

So they think Kerry is less keen than Bush on the Iraq invasion.
So what? Whats your alternative? All poiticians must support any
war, however misconceived and stupid?

Oh please...they love to hate Bush...they'd love for him to be
re-elected. He's a poster boy for their recruiting....he's the best
thing to happen to terrorism in years...they're signing up by the
thousands to fight the evil Satan...

Newsmax is the online equivalent of Fox News. When someone cites it, you can
pretty much tell where they're coming from, and it sure isn't anywhere
tainted by reality.

The information in the newsmax link originated from a Larry King
interview with Kerry:
"KING: Where were you?
KERRY: I was in the Capitol. We'd just had a meeting -- we'd just come
into a leadership meeting in Tom Daschle's office, looking out at the
Capitol. And as I came in, Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing
there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we
shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized
nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of
explosion at the Pentagon. And then word came from the White House, they
were evacuating, and we were to evacuate, and so we immediately began
the evacuation."
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIP...08/lkl.00.html
The 40 minutes that Kerry couldn't think is the time, as described by
Kerry, between when the second hijacked jet hit WTC and another hijacked
jet hit the Pentagon.

Bingo. Osama is many things, but he isn't stupid. He knows he's
anathema to Americans and that his criticism of Bush will if anything
help W get re-elected. Maintaining W in office will serve many of the
radical Islamists' goals, not the least being disunity in the western
world.
