Hi,
I have some photographic equipment which I'm planning to take on a trip
to Europe, and was planning to get it insured. Does anyone know of a
good insurance plan? I want the insurance to cover just the trip.
Also how had you secured your equipment while travelling? Due to the
recent restrictions, I don't know whether I will be allowed to travel
with camera and lenses in the carry-on bag.
Thanks for your time,
Prashanth.

A few years ago, I did just that. I got an insurance from the company where
my cars and home are insured. I found that it was expensive, and that the
amount reimbursed decreased quite rapidly as the equipment got older.
I have travelled all over the world, and never insured my equipment again. I
never had any problem, even though I always travel with several bodies and
lenses.
I just flew back to Paris, from Bolivia, through Miami, on AA : no
restriction at all on carry-on luggage (except liquids, etc...).

Can't you extend your home insurance to cover this? I have extended
cover on my home insurance policy (UK) and successfully claimed when I
was robbed in France, losing camera, FM radio and other items. Because
my cover was "new for old", I recived replacement value from my insurer.
