Hi all,
We're planning to drive from near Eindhoven (Netherlands) to friends who live in
central Jutland. We would like to do it in one day. But: is this a day's trip? Does
anyone know how many hours to budget for this? Any must-see things on the way? The
best roads to take?
thanks for your continuing collective wisdom...
Paul

Hi
Yes, its an easy day trip.
I haven't timed this part, but you can do Frederikshaven, Flensburg, Hamburg, Osnabruck, Enschede, Eindhoven, Breda, Antwerp, Gent, Calais in just under 12 hrs.
I've done it maybe 6 times

I'd say so. It's about 800 kilometers/500 miles

Well, most of the day I'd say. Depending on wich way you go and if you hit
rushhour anywhere.
> Any must-see things on the way?
Don't know.. I live in Denmark, so I can primary recommend sights in Denmark. But
since you have friends here I wont start..
> The best roads to take?
I'd take Autobahn, motorvej, highway... call it what you want: the big roads. And
mayby some shortcuts to see some things and take a break from driving.

This is certainly to be done within some hours. Look at a routeplanner like
www.routenet.nl . You have to pass via Oberhausen in Germany, Bremen and Hamburg
(Elbtunnel). 6 hours if you drive quickly , 7-8 hours if you take your time. There
are no real must see on the road, but you an of course stop to visit Hamburg or one
of the cities in Denmark.

Be careful: there are major roadworks around the Elbtunnel which could cost you an
additional 2 hours (they are just digging a new pipe in the ground to get a 6-lane
motorway through the tunnel).
And never ever try to do the trip on a Saturday: Saturday is "Bettentausch" (rent
period for holiday homes end/start) in Denmark, which means 250.000 Germans will
drive this route northbound to move in...
