Hotels at, and near, Frankfurt Airport

We are looking for 2 hotels - one at Frankfurt Airport grounds, or
very near, so we can get to/from it easily by public transportation;
and the other one near the airport, where we would spend a night
before returning the rental car on our way back. Would prefer
something not too expensive, or may be they have special deals for
seniors (we are not EU citizens though). Thanks a lot for any
suggestions.

When we used to go to Europe with our kids we found the Holiday
Inn in the Main-Taunus shopping center to be quite reasonable
and convenient for the airport. I don't know it still exists or
even if it has changed its name. You did need a car to get to
the hotel but it was not far and I managed it several times
rather jet-lagged.

Here I go again, adding to my own posts but I had a look at the
sites for Main-Taunus and I think the Dorint hotel looks very
like my memories of the Holiday Inn of days gone by.

A few years ago stayed at the Novotel Kelsterbach - at least it was
convenient for the airport, with a private shuttlebus but otherwise
remember it was exceedingly unenjoyable - think it's now redesignated
a 'Mercure' hotel...............

Open www.viamichelin.com, select Germany, postcode 64546, city Walldorf
and search for hotels. Apart from the hotels right on the airport, there
are several in the Walldorf-Langen area, about 10 miles from the
airport. Check the prices for the dates you are travelling, the hotels
put up their prices dramatically during trade fairs.

And don't confuse it with that "nearby" Walldorf with postcode 69190 *g*

Yop, it is now called Mercure Hotel, and the price they quoted was
outrageous (> 200e) - they have some conference in Frankfurt on that
day.
Weird enough, I found a very good deal for seniors with InterCity
Hotel, which is at the airport grounds, on the same day.
