Hotel Rooms for 3?

Hello.
Going to be going to Paris and then driving down country, see where I
feel like ending up.
There are three adults travelling, and to cut costs we want to split a
room (twin double beds is not a problem) but having successfully done
this throughout the States, I was warned that a lot of European hotels
either have a double room (one bed) or two single beds in a room, and
do not cater for 3 in one. I'm aware Holiday Inn has no problem with
this, but was looking for somewhere a little cheaper.
Can anyone tell me if Holiday Inn Express does it and also if the
Etap/Ibis do those rooms. Any other suggestions of English website
hotel chains would be appreciated.
Also, can anyone tell me the difference between Holiday Inn, Holiday
Inn Garden Court and Holiday Inn Express?
Thanks.

Etap and Formule 1 hotels in France have a double bed, and a separate single
bunk which runs over the top end of the bed.
So they would meet your needs.
Ibis may at some hotels have an extra bed in the room.

Most of the French budget hotels have rooms for 3.
http://www.eurapart.com/budget.html
The budget hotels like Formule 1 and ETAP are dirt cheap and are usually
located on the outskirts of towns with free parking. Unless you are
travelling in peak season, I would not worry about reservations.
For information on the different Holiday Inn's go to
http://www.ichotels.com
They will usually allow 3 adults in a room and have good deals on their
website.

except that Formule 1 are unstaffed for 22 hours of the day and you
need to either turn up during the exact one hour window when there
is someoen there or pre-book so that you have a code number with
which to open the door

Rubbish - from Formule1 website, their reception is staffed:
In France
- from 6:30 am to 9:30 am and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on weekdays
- from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Saturdays, Sundays
and public holidays
At other times there is a machine accepting credit cards out front where you
can prepay and gain entry.

I have traveled all over Europe with a teenager and we never had trouble
finding hotels in the city centers of major cities like Rome, Paris or
London or in smaller town with three beds per room. The biggest problem
is hotels where a room for 3 involves bringing in a folding bed which
occupies all available floor space. Often 3 rooms have 3 regular single
beds.

I had a room for three persons (one very large bed and one double bed) at
the Mercure in Luxembourg. It doesn't seem to be common, though.
