Has anyone stayed at either that highly recommends one over the other? Thanks.

I've stayed at the San Moise. It was OK, not great. Our room was
adequate, but on the small side--almost tiny. More expensive
rooms, I'm sure, are larger.
The location, as you probably know, is very convenient.
I wouldn't object to staying there again, but it wouldn't be my
first choice. Sorry I've never stayed at the Flora, and can't
comment on it.

Last year we stayed at the Locando al Leon
http://www.hotelalleon.com/
just in back of the Cathedral in the first alley to the west of the canal
that passes under the Bridge of Sighs-good location, price and comfort
level. It's a couple of paces south of a little square with a couple of
mediocre resaturants to aviod but if you continue west a couple of blocks
you'll find a nice restaurant whose name I don't recall that sits on the
north side of the alley .

...and I find the Flora overpriced for a closet-sized room.

I stayed at the Flora some years ago. The room was tiny but it was
lovely, almost elegant. I'd stay there again.
