Hotel or Area to stay in Paris?
Hi,
We (Wife, Son and I) will be staying in Paris for 3 days this spring.
I am looking for a good hotel in a "very safe" and also reasonably
convenient location. We will arrive at Gare De Nord and leave from
Gare De Lyon; so, some place convenient to get to from both these
locations would be preferred. Please recommend some hotels (or even
specific areas with which we can not go wrong). My budget would be
around 100 euros per day.
Thanks.

I used to recommend the Sevres Azur on Abbe Gregoire
http://www.hotelsevresazur.com/hotel-standalone.php?id=65&lang=fr
but I see there prices, for two have gone to around 100 euros.
It is ** and in the 6th, certainly safe, I have lived a block
away for 30 years and never been mugged! I also recommend
a little restaurant just up Cherche Midi (Midi-Vins).
Our dachs, Gaston, likes their Yorkie, Divine, but their
food is also good. It is a block away from either the metro
St Placide or Sevres Babylon.
You can get an idea of the neighborhood from my photos
http://homepage.mac.com/evleth/PhotoAlbum16.html
The hotel is on Abb Gregoire, one of the photos
(The next street, Abbe Gregoire)-the hotel being
just out of sight on the left. (the blue
sign whose writing is not discernable.

IBIS is a chain and the prices are within your budget, they are all
over, find one in a location that suits you.

Our nearest one is up in the Montparnasse area, Avenue du Maine
http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/fichehotel/fr/ibi/0803/fiche_hotel.shtml
Their web site gives one to ask for rates, they currently indicate
about 80 euros for mid-March.
Ibis is part of the Accor group which also runs Motel 6 in the US.
We stay at IBIS when touring around France, their internet
reservation system is easy to use.

We have stayed there twice, the first time was great,
the second time the room was by a noisy elevator.
We have booked into the Richmont at 126 ChercheMidi
for our upcoming visit,, never been there before. We
have also stayed at the Ferrandi, which is nice but a bit
more money.

I can recommend l'Horset Opera:
http://www.hotelhorsetopera.com/?gclid=CJ2uosPDsYoCFQEYXgodJx1_sw
I stayed there last fall: right in the main shopping area with
Galerie Lafayette and Printemps around the corner.
Clean, safe, quiet, reasonable breakfast, very friendly personnel!

If you contact the hotel Ferrandi directly it may be within your price
range. It's a nice hotel in a good location but nothing special. The Agora
St. Germain in the 5th is a reliable choice. We've also been generally
satisfied with the Accor chain with a couple of notable exceptions.

I have stayed at an Ibis that was about 100m-200m from the Gare du
Nord.
The Hotel du Nord is right across the street from GdN. I have never
stayed there, but they do advertise a lot. As I recall, there are
lots of 2* and 3* hotels very close to GdN.
