Default Help -Three days in Prague

We'll be in Prague for three days around the end of Oct.
Our interests are photography (Brand new digital camera!) and music
(Folk, Classical, choirs). Any suggestions?
Any reccomendations for a hotel? We're a couple of 80+, and can't
handle stairs easily.
Your replies would be appreciated.

We stayed at the Hotel Adria recently www.adria.cz and it was excellent. As
to the rest of your question, just take the lens cap off and start
shooting - there really is so much to see you can't miss. I don't know about
the music aspect but I'm sure there will be something for you.

The small music 'festivals' that are held in the churches that you will get
leaflets thrust into you hands about every 5 minutes are a typical
overpriced rip-off. take the leaflets, choose where you want to go then 10
minutes before the performance you can negotiate a much better price at the
door.

But - check out the main theatres and opera first. Even though you didnt
mention opera in your list - it would be a great time to try it if it isn't
something you have tried before. Whats on when you are there ?

I hope your morning people. Get out on the Karlov Most before sunrise, set
up your tripod. You will take a tripod I hope. In October the morning
light will be Golden and the sun will rise right above the East end of the
Bridge. If you don't have one already, get a wide angle lens. Get some
early morning shots in Vaclav square. You will need a wide angle to get a
really good shot of the clock and the Tyn Church.

You won't be able to walk a block without geting pamphleted for concerts.
Music is everywhere in Praha. There is a nice small club on Mikalska just a
few doors north of Vejvodova on the left when your facing north. Sorry I
can't remember the name its downstairs and they had first rate jazz combo,
but I remember they had some folk on the schedule.

I also remember hearing a group in a club somewhere in Czech R. singing a
song. I remembered the tune very well. But I couldn't place it until they
got to the chorus and sang in strongly accented English, "It was down in
Louisiana just about a mile from Texarcana in theose old cotton fields back
home."
