Help - Baden Baden
Hello,
I'm going to be in Germany next week staying in Heidelberg. I plan to take
a train trip to Baden Baden and check out the Friedrichsbad Roman-Irish
Bath.
What is the best way to get there from the train station?
Is it too far to walk? I would like to see some of the city.
If it is easy enough to walk, can someone give me directions from the train
station?
If it is too far to walk, how much will a Taxi cost?
Thanks in advance
Pete McDonald

The centre is about 1.5 km (east) of the rail station. Many central streets
are car-free. See www.mappy.de and www.baden-baden.de for maps.

<SNIP>
The centre of Baden-Baden is about *5 km* southeast of the DB rail station
with that name. That's a bit far to walk, but I understand there is a
frequent bus service.
Sorry for any inconvenience.

For bus schedules, visit the journey-planner at:
http://www.efa-bw.de/nvbw/en_index.htm
Enter "Baden-Baden" in the upper window for both 'starting point' and
'destination'; enter 'Bahnhof'' and 'Leopoldplatz' in the corresponding
lower windows, enter the time/date required then press 'Submit'. The trip
will take less than 15 minutes, depending on the route, and cost EUR 2.00
each way (tickets are probably available from a machine near the bus-stop).
BTW you can obtain a full schedule for any line via the "Bulletin Schedule"
button; eg Line 201 runs every 10 minutes until about 19h30 daily (then
every 20 mins).

There is indeed a frequent bus service. Schedules are available for
download: http://www.karlsruhe.de/KVV/download/kb/bus201.pdf
Basically it runs every 10 minutes at daytime, every 20 minutes in
the evening, 7 days a week. Fare is EUR 2 one-way, EUR 4 day pass.
