handicapped services in museums in Spain & Portugal
I'm planning a 3 week trip to Spain & Portugal in September. I've been
reading about the museums in Madrid, Barcelona, etc and getting very
excited about seeing all that they have to offer. One concern I have
is that I can't stand or walk for very long because a very painful
foot and ankle condition I have. In the US, I take advantage of the
complimentary wheelchairs at museums or other sites so I can enjoy
them by staying off my feet. Do museums in Spain or Portugal have
handicapped services like wheelchairs for patrons? Or would there be a
place to rent a wheelchair there by the day? I don't own a wheelchair
since I can get by on my feet. Usually I carry a portable stool.
thanks for any suggestions

May be bigger museums have wheel chairs- I cannot help you there.
There are lots of places where you can rent a (light, folding) wheel
chair for the day. (shops that sell crutches etc.as well- 'ortopedia'
you will see on the shopfront)
Some smaller museums though will not be geared for wheel chairs and
you may have to make use of the little folding stool- I did that as
well when I was on crutches for months after breaking my leg and that
went ok!

I don't think that Portuguese Museums have that. (I'm almost shure) but you
can rent it at some clinics or ortopedical shops
