Glasgow to Heraklion

What is the best/cheapest way to get from Glasgow to Heraklion?
I would like to travel between May and September 2005, with a return journey
for approximately 7 days. I'm only interested in transport as I already have
accomodation.
My first check on Expedia returned results that range from £800 to £1300,
which is far more than I'd be prepared to spend. I obviously could travel
easily from Glasgow to London so if anyone could even suggest cheap flights
from London to Heraklion then that would be great.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

The prices you quote are crazy!!!
Beware the above, also. We were offered it last year. It was relatively
expensive and there was a several hours stop-over at Athens.
Try cheapestflights.co.uk.
They gave us £123 return Gatwick-Heraklion last October and all went fine.

Not dissimilar!
But the original post did ask specifically for London/Heraklion also.
And it's all I got!

I doubt if you will find any charter flights yet for next year yet, hence
all your prices would be for scheduled flights. Some will probably be via
Brussels, Rome and so on.
The following may not be the easiest option, or indeed (nearer the time) the
cheapest either:
easyJet from Glasgow to Luton, then easyJet from Luton to Athens. A bus ride
down to Piraeus, and take one of the boats to Heraklion (or you could splash
out a little more and take Olympic Air or one of the other Greek airlines
from Athens to Heraklion).
Bear in mind that easyJet do not sell through-tickets: i.e. in Luton you
will have to collect your luggage, and check in for the next flight.
But who knows, maybe Stelios will expand on his network to Athens. I have
suggested to his company that easyJet start a route from my local airport
(where they already have a strong presence) to Athens, and I've promised
that I'll be on it regularly if they oblige :o)
Incidentally, other than being a largely satisfied customer I have no
connections with easyJet.

Amazingly enough, a search on www.charterflights.co.uk for Glasgow-Heraklion
5-10 nights between 1/5/05 and 30/9/05 brings up 166 results, starting at
£159.

Elaine,
I thought you were flying to Corfu last week on your way to Paxos, or did
you only go for a week? Or are you using an Internet Cafe?

www.applefares.com indicates Air Berlin serves Heraklion from Cologne and
British Midlands serves Cologne from Glasgow. No flights available on the
dates I checked but the airline web sites might have something if applefares
does not.
PS: Best to indicate that your e-mail address is not valid -- saves trouble for
people trying to respond that way.
