Gay man looking for short-term room rental in Berlin
Hi. I'd like to visit Berlin for a month and since I'm on a budget
I'm interested in renting a room. I'd prefer a place in the
Schöneberg neighborhood, and since I'll be traveling alone a single,
friendly bear host would be great.
Dates are flexible, but I'd like to go ASAP.
Thanks!

You can try http://www.ebab.com EBAB stands for "Enjoy bed and brakfast".
It's a German organisation that manages gay-owned rooms in the gay areas of
the cities. Obviously, most of their offer is located in German cities, but
there are accomodations in many of the big cities of the world, too. As your
target is Berlin, I'm sure that their options are huge there. I stayed at a
guy called Patrick's home right in the Schöneberg neighbourhood, two minutes
walking away from the Nollendorf Platz U-bahn station. It costed 45 EUR a
day for a double room in Summer 2000.
BTW, to my disgrace, Patrick wasn't a bear (twinkish, I'd say), but very
friendly. :-)

Are you aware of what "date" is slang for in some countries?

Re: Gay man looking for short-term room rental in Berlin
I would second the referral to EBAB. I used the site for an apartment in
Berlin (50 Euros/night for a nice 1 bedroom apartment--we got the WHOLE
apartment to ourselves!) and also in Hamburg and Frankfurt. This was
especially nice because all of the hotels were booked up in Frankfurt due to
the Tradefair business and the few available rooms were absolutely
outrageous. Using EBAB, we managed to get a nice room in a "b&b" setting
(actually a nice man's apartment) for 45 Euros, including breakfast. If you
are gay/lesbian and like to support gay & lesbian businesses, this is an
ideal way to do it.

Thanks Jose! Great website. But they need pictures of the hosts.

OK, how about: dates can be changed? Any date is fine with me?
Nope, I think I'm screwed.

You ask for too much, don't you? :-)
If the host being a bear is so important, try posting in the BML or in the
TravelBears Mailing List at Yahoo.
