I dont believe in rebuffing criticism of muslims with a criticism of
Israelis. Muslim intolerance is bad, the Israeli actions were no doubt
bad too. I dont see how an Isreali bad action makes a muslim bad
action OK.

Jack wasn't rebuffing criticism of muslims, he was responding directly
to the suggestion that Jews react less violently to negative media
portrayal.

The government in Sri Lanka is mainly Buddhist, and their fascist-style
oppression of the Tamils started the civil war there (not that the LTTE
are any better).

Bhutan is a Buddhist theocracy and its treatment of the Nepalese
immigrant minority is appalling.

Blimey! some here are a bit aggressive..

Going back to the original post I find that there is a bit of everything everywhere you go. Often what we get from others is a reflection of what we give. If you smile, for instance, people will smile back, have you tried this? I highly recommend it!

From my own experience I have found the friendliest people in : Spain (but I migh be a bit viased as I am Spanish ), Scotland, South Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Cuba.

The unfriendliest were by far the Austrians

So?
How far back into history do we need to go to find Christians doing naughty
things?
The point is, your examples don't belong to movements that despise any
deity.

It was a fitting response to the idea that Buddhists can't be
extremists!

No, that's certainly not true. A lot of the Viet Cong were both
communists and Buddhists.

The Viet Cong were definitely not in the right on an ideological
level, and the communist government that rose from their victory
against the Americans is attrocious.

Indeed, because they are smart enough to know there are more effective
ways of dealing with it than death threats, assassinations, etc.

The Jews deserve nothing but admiration for what they have achieved in
the world, and the Muslims have very little to show what they have
contributed to it.
