Default FRANCE: SOUTHEAST AND WEST. CASTLES & WINES

Hi everybody, next september I'll travel to France. I'm from Spain,
and I will start in Madrid, next Barcelona, next Montpellier. Here
I'll stay 2 days to visit Nimes, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence & Marseille.
After Montpellier I'll go to Carcassonne where I'll stay for 3 days
visiting all castles in the zone, Beziers, .... Then I'll go to
Bordeaux. Here I'll we stay 2 days visiting Perigueaux and the
Perigord, La Rochelle, ..... And finally I'll go to Bayonne. after
this I'll go to Madrid again.

I'll travel on my own car and I think the best way to sleep are the
Formule1, Etap, Ibis,... but many people say me ther aren't good
hotels, somebadu know these hotels? Are best hotels?

Next: I want to know places to know, as good restaurants to eat, cafés
(adresses if it's possible), beautiful locations, natural locations,
castles, cave (to drink good wines), .....

And finally, if somebody knows another cheap & good hotels, please
send me information.

THANKS EVERYBODY.

Your question is too general to answer here. You need to invest in some
guide books. I will reccomend the Climat de France chain of hotels
(www.climatdefrance.fr). The rooms are small, but comfortable and they have
an excellent restaurant, as good as anywhere we ate outside, except the best
restaurants.

There's nothing wrong with the hotel chains you suggest, but they are rather
characterless. I would prefer to find smaller cheap hotel, often with
restaurants. Such hotels are likely to be more interesting, characterful
and possibly better located (the chains you suggest can often be in
depressing out-of-town shopping areas).

France is absolutly full of small cheap hotels. Michelin Red Guides are a
good start

Two-star hotels in France are usually quite good and not expensive. Many are
small, family-run establishments and they are often very nicely decorated.
