Hi, I will be going to France in late October, early November. I plan on spending 5
or 6 days in Paris and 4 or 5 days in one other area of France. I'd like to find a
good home base to do day trips from. I've never been to France before and would be
interested in other travellers impressions and suggestions for that time of the

Eat some yummy truffles in the chocolate shops--they are only available in the cold
weather, I think--we couldn't find them in warm weather, but enjoyed them
tremendously in December.

As you should know from lurking late October weather starts getting iffy. I would
reccomend for ease of travel and for general tourists love it, the Loire valley
(although it is not far from Paris) For another view of France you should go to
Provence, Avignon and Aix are both good places in which to stay.

Do some research on Collioure, France. It is in the southwest corner of France near
the Spanish border on the Med. Sea. I have been to France many times and last month
I made my first visit to Collioure. I spent 4 days here and loved it. It is a great
little town. Nice beaches, cafes, restaurants etc. Many outdoor cafes on the beach
that stay open very late at night. Also you can make a very easy day trip to
Barcelona from here by train.

hello Edison If you have ever heard about the Loire Valley and the Renaissance
chateaux, I could accommate you in a beautiful appartment (dating from the XVIII
century but renovated in 1990 !!) in the historic part of Saumur which is
considerate to be the "pearl of Anjou", in the center of this magnificent part of
France belonging now to the UNESCO world patrimonium.This area is also known for its
vineyards (i know a lot of winegrowers in chinon, saumur-champigny and anjou
vyneyards and can introduce you..) if you are interested, please write me back
