I just invested in a book called Great Sleeps (Florence-Rome-Venice).
We are 2 mature (ha ha) women first time in Florence for either of us. We
prefer twin accomodations and will be travelling probably 10.10.03 -
14.10.03
Best ones (from the pages) look like: Hotel la Scaletta, the Johanna/Jolea
residenza, and Hotel Globus. Does anyone here have experience at any of the
mentioned?
I'm guessing that there are some treasures/great sleeps not mentioned in the
book and sans web sites.
Please comment.

Obviously, it depends on your budget, but you might consider the Torre
Guelfa. It has a great location and is in the oldest privately owned tower
in town. For what it is worth, it's my wife's favorite place in Florence.
I'm going to be in Florence the just about the same time you are. This time
(traveling by myself) I'm staying at the Hotel Alessandra which is quite
close to the Torre Guelfa. Just to confuse you some more.

Hi Larry I've stayed many times at LaScaletta. The location is great;
it is clean and comfortable though not fancy in any way; the management
is kindly and attentive. buon viaggio....billfroggIn article

A very nice two star hotel is the Nueva Italia in the San Lorenzo district
-- an easy walk to most locations of interest.
Very clean and well maintained.
The staff is fluent in English and very helpful.
