Hello,
My name is Elena and I live in Saint-Petersburg and work as a tour guide.
There are many nice mini-hotels in the down town of the city. You cannot
imagine difficulty getting from outskirts to the city without knowing the
language.
How much are you counting to spend for one night stay?
Feel free asking questions regarding your trip
Sincerely
Elena

You might try a homestay program. Just google on "homestay russia" and
you'll find several agencies (none of which I have tried).

Thanks for your reply!
I speak enough russian to use the elektritchka. So anyplace near a
direct link to downtown would do.
I once stayed at friend's in Friazino, south of moscow. But I would
like to visit russia with my wife now.
So I am looking for decent comfort (shower, toilets) wether in a hotel
or housed at someone's place.
A price range from 30 to 50 Eur is what i have in mind...
I would plan my trip during spring or summer.
