We will be in Paris for a few weeks this spring and wish to take a
short trip to western Switzerland for about 6-7days including
travel. All transportation will be rail/public transportation. We have
been to Geneva and its lakes area and, also, Zurich and would like to
see some other cities. Bern, Basel, Fribourg and Strausbourg (Fr) are
on our list of possibilities. Of course, due to time constraints just a
few of these. What does anyone suggest as an itinerary? Thanks Liz

My personal view is that if going to Switzerland I would not waste my
time on cities, one goes to Switzerland to see mountains. In fact, we
just finished an 8+ day tour of the Swiss mountains via rail. In 6 or 7
days you could ride most of the Rhaetia Bahn, the Matterhorn-Gotthard
Bahn, and the Zermat-Gornergrat Bahn and see some of the most
outstanding scenery Switzerland has to offer.

Hello guys,
I will be visiting Geneva this summer for like 2-3 weeks and would like to visit my friends in France for 3 days. Do I need a visa to enter France? I am a US residence (not a US citizen yet, my passport is Philippines)
Thanks in advance!

I would rather take a trip to the mountains. Forget Basel and Fribourg,
there's nicer places if you are limited to 6 days. You should go via Bern
(it's on the way) to some nices places in the "Berner Oberland"-region,
such as Grindelwald or Interlaken. Thun is also nice, if you are in the
region (you can go from Interlaken to Thun by ship, very nice trip).

Frank
