Eurostar - what if i miss my train?
I'm traveling on Eurostar from London to Paris next month (and back the
same day). I'm booked in "non-flexible" Leisure Select class.
If I miss my return train for whatever reason, do I lose the US$150 I
paid for the return ticket? How does Eurostar handle such situations?
Given the uncertainty of my schedule while in Paris, missing my return
is a possibility.
How should I handle this?
Thanks,
-mike

Don't miss the train
"Non flexble" strangly enough means exactly that, which is why it's
cheaper than other options.

It depends. If you just screw up, or your meeting overuns, tough luck.
But if the problem is a delay to an inbound train, and you left
reasonble time, then I've been _told_ that Eurostar are fairly
sensible about letting you on a later train. So far I've not missed
one myself, but I have checked in late when inbound trains have been
delayed (eg the Berlin - Brussels sleeper was late last time I
travelled. I've arrived in Lille with 15 min to go, and found check in
not even open).
For the UK leg, you can (in principle) buy a ticket from wherever you
are starting from to London International. You will have to ask for
the specific ticket, but that then counts as a through ticket if your
UK train is delayed.

Re: Eurostar - what if i miss my train?
I don't want to raise hopes unduly, but FWIW...
I missed my booked non-flexible Eurostar to Paris for a completely
inane reason, but on asking at the booking office, they re-booked me on
the next available train. Noses were wrinkled, but no more than that.
Because the route was London-Lille-Paris, the re-booking was just for
the Lille section, and I was told to ask at Lille if SNCF would allow
me to travel on to Paris. A few Gallic gesticulations notwithstanding,
I was on the Lille-Paris train.
Also suffice to say, I *didn't* miss the return train!
I think I got lucky.
