EUROSTAR'S DEAL FOR BUZZ PASSENGERS
Eurostar, operator of the high speed passenger train service to the
continent, is to offer special fares from £49 return to Buzz passengers
whose flights have been cancelled following the proposed Ryanair
takeover.
Buzz passengers will be able to go to any of Eurostar's 60 destinations
in France Tickets may be pre booked through the special telephone number
08706 000 779 or in person at the ticket desks at London Waterloo or
Ashford, Kent. Tickets will be issued upon presentation of the Buzz
booking confirmation and proof of identity. They are available for sale
between 28 February and 29 March 2003, for travel between 1 March and 28
April 2003, and require a Saturday night stay away.
Eurostar provides a hassle-free rail alternative for all Buzz's existing
services. For Paris, Eurostar is the well established market leader and
has ample capacity to take Buzz passengers. Interchange at Lille, at
Marne-la-Valie (Disneyland Resort Paris), or in Paris into fast French
high speed trains (TGVs) gives access to the whole of France. Eurostar
can ticket to over 100 destinations in France, Belgium and the
Netherlands through its Contact Centre on 08705 186 186.
Taking into account the time getting to the airport, flight check-in and
baggage reclaim times, rail journey times can be very competitive.
Moreover, Eurostar and onward railway connections provide a much more
comfortable and interesting way of travelling, allowing you to enjoy
France on the way.
Eurostar's Head of Marketing, Joanna Howard, commented: "Wherever
airlines go in France, we go too. Rail travel is a thoroughly enjoyable
way to explore the continent and Buzz passengers should be reassured that
with Eurostar, they still have an easy means of getting to their
destinations."

Notes to Editors:
Examples of frequencies by Eurostar and TGV on Buzz routes proposed for
withdrawal are:
Frequency Special fare for Buzz passengers
Paris 14-16 daily £49
Marseille 5 daily via Lille £99
Toulon 2 daily via Lille £99
Tours 2 daily via Lille, several via Paris £69
Bergerac* 2 daily via Lille, several via Paris £89
Caen hourly service from Paris £69
Dijon one daily via Lille, several via Paris £69
Brest 2-hourly from Paris £89
* Alternative rail stations at Angoulême, Libourne or Bordeaux
Personal comment: Ryanair operate to several destinations in France, the
withdrawal of many of the Buzz routes is obviously a cost cutting
exercise as part of it's take over. But instead of just leaving pre-
booked Buzz passengers without any travel arrangements didn't Ryanair
reaccommodate them on the most suitable equivalent route and help them
out with onwards transport?
