Microwaves make a good way to steam many things. Personally I like
grilled asparagus though.

We're talking scrambled here. Never had any explode; they just fell down
to their normal size when the cooking stops. We probably did it for
entertainment value as much as anything (that was back when microwaves
were new & different).

I looked a little more closely by light of day. It's a 12kg tank labeled for
propane.

There is. A conventional cooker "browns" the outer surfaces.
Compare a jacket potato from the two methods and you will see. Or
you could try flambee-ing something with a microwave!
A microwave oven may have a small role in a great kitchen, but so
small as to be discountable.

I beat them and cook them in the same pan and I serve them on a
plate whatever method I cook by!

But would it be worth buying a device just for that? Someone
suggested I should get one to reheat cups of coffee, I just
looked at them :-)

I'm sure that is the strength of the microwave, heating ready
meals for the busy, but remember we are supposed to be talking
about the poor unemployed (I think) :-)

I understand there is a powder for browning things in a microwave
(that is the limit of my research - or interest) in the subject!

smoked salmon is certainly superior to bacon IMHO, you need a
glass of champagne too, no better way to start the day.

Its to do with lack of knowledge and the ability to aquire it,
