Easyjet boarding lanes

OK, I give up. I have flown with Easyjet about 20 times recently and I
always get boarding lane D. I'm not priority boarding (PB) and I don't
check in on the Internet (lane C) as I have hold baggage. So what is the
mystery of how do you get into boarding lanes A or B? I thought it was
based on check in time but I sometimes check in 2+ hours in advance of
the flight time and I still end up in lane D. Anyone got any ideas how
the system works?
thanks

I've been flying a lot with them too recently, and I've definitely
noticed a difference between when I checked in for the flight, and my
boarding priority letter. I've gotten A when I've checked in 3 hours
early, but usually a higher letter when within 2 hours. There might also
be a correlation between boarding letter and price you paid for the
ticket- I don't know.

Well we normally get "A" lane and all we do is be there when check in
opens - only time this did not apply was when in France the check in girl
almost asked us to check in some hand baggage - dut decided againt it and
Iam sure she decided instead to give us lane "D" as opposed to lane "A"
which everyone else seemed to be getting at the time.
Flew just last week and got "A" again and what amused the 10 of us was that
those who internet checked in were in lane "C" and got on plane after us.
PB is a laugh too - if you read easyjet site for £2.50 or summit u can PB
(but if you have to get a bus to plane there is disclaimer saying you may
not get on first!!!)
Getting like Ryanair - almost charging for every breath you take!

maybe they start at a and work up as people arrive.
I never have a problem, I fly with somebody else!

That IS the theory.
The question is, do they actually do that.
The most recent time that I checked in for EZY
I was really early so I know that I was near the
start of the queue when I got served. She said
"you're in group D", so I asked her how this could
possibly be and she said "my mistake that should
be A". No idea why.

I just fly with the airline that goes from/to the airports
that I want, often that's a LCC.

It's a bit OT I guess but Southwestern has a similar system in
the US. However, you can check in on the Net within 24 hours and
get the highest priority even if you are checking luggage. I
hate getting to anything excessively early and doing nothing for
hours just to get something like a particular seat.

I arrive early to get in the first group so as to be sure
to find locker space for my carry on.
I sometimes wonder if I would be better off arriving later,
checking the luggage and having the delay at the other
end waiting at the carousel.

its probably the same as seat allocation, usually from the front,
except when it isnt. Maybe two check ins have split the seats. Once I
checked in early for a flight that was mostly charter customers and we
were stuck right at the back. That company has since changed its
policy by the look of it, realising imdependent travellers are the
future, they now let you choose a seat when booking and judging by the
greyed out seats on the screen, the package people go in the back.

Except that that guarentee is worthless if you have to catch a bus
to the plane, which you do at many of their airports.
