Default Driving in Spain

Heya-

Planning on traveling to Spain mid-May. Want to rent a car. Being from
the states, is my current Calif. drivers license adequate? I've driven
in Ireland and it was sufficient. Never been to the continent before.

ISTR an 'interntaional drivers license" was required once upon a time,
but someone mentioned that was ahwile ago, and he travelled through Italy
wihout needing anything more than his license.

TIA,

No problem with just our CA licenses. The hardest part about driving in the
cities is lack of signs. Arlette
