Default Driving Fast in North Germany

I am working outside of Hamburg for 3 months. I am looking for a place
to rent a car that will allow me to hit 320kph. It's going to be tough
to find such a car but maybe these places exist. I was thinking I
might have to resort to getting a bike...

Either way it will be worth the effort to be in the 200 mph club!

Also, does anyone have any must do things for north Germany?

Try this one:
http://berlin.erento.com/mieten/fahr...s/lamborghini/

But you'll have to see which of them is in northern Germany.

AFAIK neither the Kawa (whatever her name) nor the Hayabusa actually
get to 320 kph [anymore]?

You will also need a good stretch of Autobahn on a day with little
traffic, preferrably weekends, because you don't want a lorry coming
at you with 240 kph relatively.

When exactly are you going to do this? I am in Germany for two months this
fall and will be in Northern Germany in a car in late November and early
December. Could you get this Darwin-award-winning stunt out of the way
before mid November, please?

Or, as Frank Windsor (ex Sgt. Watt from Z-Cars) used to say in his TV
adverts for an Insurance Company, cover to take care of those final
expenses.

I can't believe all the negative response! I have enough b*lls to try
and do something I really want to, and somehow I qualify for the Darwin
awards. I suppose we should give a darwin award to anyone who swims in
the ocean, you know with sharks in it and all. 200 mph is no big deal.
I hit 140 in a station wagon this weekend, 60 more mph is no problem,
especially in a car that is built for such speed. And to anyone who is
worried about being on the road when I am, I am not an idiot and don't
have a deathwish for you or myself.

sure.
But then you're only going to kill yourself. Most people are bothered that
you'll be putting others at risk too.

On a race track sure.
Go do it at the Nürburgring.

But practically, as someone else said, firstly you have to find a long
enough stretch with no speed limits - which is getting difficult in
Germany nowadays - at a time of day which is relatively free of traffic. So
very early Sunday morning would be about the only time.

You must get a car that has a "Bauartgeschwindigkeit" (~official top speed)
of over the speed you want. If you are caught over that speed (regardless
of wether that stretch of Autobahn has a limit or not) you will be nicked
for 1) speeding and 2) possibly dangerous driving and 3) possibly
invalidate any insurance.
eg:
Your car says 250km/h in the papers. Even if the car *can* do 350km/h you
are breaking the law by going over 250.
BTW There is also a "Richtgeschwindigkeit" (recommended speed limit) which
is not binding as such, of 130km/h on most stretches. If you break that,
your insurance may be invalid in case of accident. Over that and the courts
tend to come down quite hard on you.

Don't think the police won't be interested in anyone going that fast just
because there's no limit. You'll stick out, so it's best to get everything
legally squeaky-clean before you go.

And why do you want to do this in the public arena?

There are race tracks and the like where you can do this just as
easily. No-one thinks you're a soft cock, just oblivious.

Hm. I don't think so, but I've got no legal background to back this up: the
third person insurance should never be invalidated as that is quite the point of
the German insurance system. However, an insurance company could argue that
driving that fast is grossly negligent and refuse to pay for the damage he
inflicts upon himself.

I agree with the courts remark, of course.
