Hello I am going to Europe leaving from the US with Lufthansa and I'd
like to bring my snowboard and my kitesurf with me. Does anybody know if
Lufthansa charges extra for this and if yes how much? What is your
experience? Do they let you through or are they picky?

Call or e-mail Lufthansa and then you will know.

I did but I get a different answer from every representative... I am
under the impression it really depens on the mood of the check-in
person, that's why I'd like to know of other people's experiences...

What I would do, in that case, is get an e-mail response from them. If it is
favorable print it out and take it with you when you check-in. They are very
unlikely to argue with you when you have a printed document with you.

We had a return flight booking problem with them at the counter when we went
to Austria in Dec.
It was lucky I had printed out all my information from them that I had
received from their site. When confronted with the printed material, all was
resolved instantly in our favor.
Have fun!

Of course, if an email response does not quite give you what you want,
it can be improved before you print it out. But you wouldn't do that,
would you?

I would only do it if I knew you had done it successfully ;-)
