According to today's (Thurday) Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Gate Gourmet
was ordered on Wednesday to restore its services to Delta flights -- ordered
by a Fulton County Superior Court judge.
The paper notes that the only folks really affected were those in first
class flights -- they got airport vouchers, etc.. Since the majority of
flights don't serve food anyway, and they had the pretzels on hand, coach
travellers didn't notice.
Check out the business section at www.ajc.com if you wanna know more....

"Majority of flights" to WHERE? I've never flown any
appreciable distance without SOME sort of meal being served
- even if it's only a "box lunch" passengers must pick up as
they board the plane! It's true I seldom fly Delta because
they don't fly where I want to go, but when I have, they
certainly served meals in coach.

Domestic flights in the U.S. -- Coast to coast flights get food, but there's
not food on flights in the 2-3 hour range, just pretzels.

Well, I was on a flight to Paris from Atlanta on that day, and nobody
announced any detailes to us.. in fact, I only heard announcement at the
gate that there will be NO FOOD SERVICE on our 9-hour flight only 20
minutes prior to take-off.. nobody said anything about food vouchers..
when I ran to the food court - there was a line I have not seen in my
life. So I ran back to make it onto my flight... Then, while boarding, I
expressed my disappointment with this whole thing to the gate agent.. to
which he asked - did you get your meal voucher? Of course, NOT!! what meal
voucher?? Well, apperently they gave meal vouchers away.. but you had to
ask for it to get it!! Naturally, it was only valid in Atlanta airport, so
it was no use to me now.
9 hungry hours later I was in Paris where I went immediately for the first
airport cafe.
That's my experience, and Delta did not score any points here.
